![]() The Alexander Technique, Islington, London N1My practice is a short walk from Highbury and Islington tube and is two minutes from Canonbury station on the London Overground line. I am a fully qualified and insured member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) and have been teaching in North London for 12 years. RELIEVING STRESS We live in 'an age of strain', I believe, in a fast-moving digital world which makes it difficult to release tension built up by the intense way we live our lives. We develop ways, or habits, of using our bodies which can cause stress and knots of tension, resulting in stiffness and pain. The Alexander Technique teaches us to release or unlock these. 'A friend suggested I see Carol after I'd had episodes of being admitted to A&E with excruciating lower back pain. One of the many things I learned through working with her was not to be afraid of my own body. Nine years later, I'm still well. She's had a profound effect on the quality of my life.'
